VLIKS is new short audio-based video clip search engine that enables its members to quickly and creatively reference video clips of their favorite internet videos. We’ve reached out to Vanessa A. Perez, the daughter of Phillip H. Perez – Founder and CEO of VLIKS LLC for some quick Q&A’s. Below are a few excerpts:
Q| Can you briefly tell us what is VLIKS or rather what are VLIKS?
“Absolutely, in a nutshell,VLIKS are sharable short video clips that help you quickly capture your online in-the-moment emotions, thoughts and reactions. VLIKS are simply a new form of communication. They can be perceived as an extended version of GIF’s – only with audio. Typically, most people communicate using GIF’s, and GIF’s are great and all, but VLIKS are simply better. We can define VLIKS as an app that provides expressive content designed to enhance online communications.”
Q| What is the goal of VLIKS overall?
“To enhance communications in fun and cultural ways. As my father says VLIKS are designed to help quickly push forward dialogue where it may otherwise be absent and to provide creative outlets that connect people in relatable ways. Furthermore, I’d like to add that, we’re not trying to create another video content platform where you can sit and watch videos, what we’re trying to do here is create a platform where you can quickly search and share relatable, short audio-based videos in your daily communications – as a tool to express yourself. Accessibility is key here for adequate communications. Additionally, our goal is to become the world’s number one resource for expressive content. Unlocking better ways to communicate and making available expressive short-audio based video content, in essentially every online platform – is our goal.”
Q| How did you or father come up with the idea for VLIKS?
“It actually just came up randomly, my father and his best friend were sitting talking one night, and my father said ‘I would love to see an app that allows me to search and reference my favorite internet video clips in my online conversations.’ And that was the beginning of that. If you know my father well enough, when he has an idea, he sets out to makes it happen. But it makes perfect sense, especially in these ever-changing times. I mean you wouldn’t watch a movie without sound, right? So, it makes sense to create a VLIKS with sound. It simply a matter of asserting better engagement and better comprehension, especially when we are constantly trying to express ourselves. VLIKS simply help you express yourself creatively utilizing 6 second or less audio-based video clips.”
Q| What makes the VLIKS technology different than say anything else currently out there?
“Well, ideally what we want to do, is be culturally diversified in terms of providing quality expressive video content. We want our library to apply to all cultures worldwide. A place where there are no duplicate or bad quality videos. Our focus is more on diversity and quality over quantity at this point in the development process. So, I’d say our technology is different in the sense that we prioritize on methods to make accessible trending and innovative expressive content in multiple platforms. And that the accessibility of these trending and innovative expressive content are of quality, and effective, in terms of actually enabling one to express themselves. We are utilizing modern technology to the best of our ability to enable one to convey themselves in general online communications.”
