Standing Ovation in New York: Seattle Pianists Xi Lu and Boya Li Shine at EastWest Artistry NYC Valentine’s Concert

New York, NY – February 14, 2026

On Valentine’s evening, EastWest Artistry NYC presented an unforgettable concert at Opera America, bringing together distinguished artists for a program filled with romance, virtuosity, and cross-cultural musical dialogue. Among the evening’s highlights were guest pianists Xi Lu and Boya Li, Seattle-based artists who traveled to New York City to share their artistry with an enthusiastic audience — and were met with a resounding standing ovation.

The Valentine’s concert featured a refined and diverse repertoire spanning Baroque elegance to contemporary expression. Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Caroline Shaw, Alexander Scriabin, Rustam Abdullaev, E.W. Korngold, Johannes Brahms, Fazıl Say, Toru Takemitsu, and Giacomo Puccini created an evening rich in contrast and emotional depth.

A Performance of Romantic Fire and Precision

Xi Lu and Boya Li captivated the audience with their interpretation of Brahms’ Hungarian Dance, demonstrating exceptional ensemble coordination, dynamic nuance, and stylistic sophistication. Their performance was marked by clarity, rhythmic vitality, and expressive warmth — a balance of romantic intensity and refined professionalism.

The duo’s chemistry at the keyboard reflected not only technical excellence but also deep musical understanding. Their interpretation embodied the spirit of Valentine’s Day: passion, elegance, and heartfelt connection.

As the final notes resonated through the hall, the audience rose in appreciation, offering sustained applause and a standing ovation in recognition of their artistry.

Bridging Seattle and New York Through Music

The appearance of Xi Lu and Boya Li in New York underscores the growing national presence of these accomplished pianists. By bringing Seattle-based talent to a prominent New York stage, EastWest Artistry NYC continues to foster meaningful artistic exchange across cities and communities.

Their performance demonstrated how music transcends geography, uniting audiences through shared emotional experience and artistic excellence.

A Night of Romance and Cultural Dialogue

The Valentine’s program unfolded as a journey through longing, devotion, and lyrical beauty. From Scriabin’s expressive intensity to Korngold’s operatic romance and Puccini’s timeless “Un bel dì, vedremo,” the evening celebrated love in its many forms.

Accompanist Jason Wirth provided masterful collaboration throughout the program, supporting each performer with sensitivity and depth.

The concert reflected EastWest Artistry NYC’s mission as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting artists and audiences through music, art, and cross-cultural exchange.
