Seema: Small Film, Big Impact – Celebrated at Five Continents International Film Festival

Seema: The Film, a powerful exploration of domestic violence, is continuing to make waves on the international stage.  The film, featuring a stellar cast including American actress Reena Shah and Australian actor Morrison James, recently won four awards, including special mentions, at the prestigious Five Continents International Film Festival.

Reena Shah, who won a special mention for her lead role in Seema, is no stranger to the spotlight.  She’s known for her work in Nina Paley’s award-winning animated feature film, Sita Sings the Blues, where she provided the voice of Sita and was the singer, choreographer, and rotoscoped dancer for the song “Agni Pariksha.”  Shah’s impressive resume also includes appearances on Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Daily Show, and Lipstick Jungle, as well as roles in indie hits like American Chai and Stay Until Tomorrow.

Morrison James, who brings a compelling performance to Seema, began his love for music, singing, and acting in junior school at the tender age of eight.  He continued to hone his craft through secondary school, community theater, and professional wrestling.  His passion for acting led him to the United States where he graduated with a degree in Acting for Film and Television from the New York Film Academy.  He has since continued his training at prestigious institutions like NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art) in Sydney, Australia.  His dedication and talent have successfully transpired into numerous acting roles across film, television, and theatre.

Behind the camera, Seema’s success is also a testament to the vision of its filmmaker, Sabrina Khan.  An internationally renowned human rights lawyer, Khan has previously been awarded a Medal of Honour in recognition of her tireless efforts in advocating for human rights.  Driven by a passion to raise awareness about domestic violence, Khan created Seema as a powerful tool to shed light on this critical issue and inspire positive change.  The film’s impact is already being felt globally, demonstrating the power of film to effect social change.

With a talented cast and a story that resonates deeply, Seema: The Film is poised to continue its journey to raise awareness and inspire change.  Keep an eye out for this powerful film, and be sure to join the conversation on social media using #SeemaTheFilm.
