Prince Harry and Megan Markle made their first public appearance after the birth of their second child. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have arrived at New York. It is their first trip, three months after welcoming Lilibet Diana Mountbatten, their daughter. She born on 4th June 2021 . They welcomed their first child, Archie, in 2019.
The couple had planned this visit for several charitable causes. It was announced earlier this week that the pair will be visiting New York for a social and noble cause. They were expected to join at the Global Citizen Live at New York, a 24-hour event, to promote equal access to COVID-19 vaccine. This visit is the part of their work with world leaders in the pursuit of ending the pandemic for everyone, everywhere.
Several other stars were also the part of this event, including Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Lopez, Elton John, and many others.
They first visited the One World Trade Center Observatory on September 23, Thursday, and then went to meet the New York Mayor, Bill de Blasio, and Governor, Kathy Hochul.The duo was having hand in hand. They also visited 9/11 museum and memorial before meeting US Ambassador to UN, Linda Thomas Greenfield. The star told the reports “It is wonderful to be back.”
It was a bright sunny morning of September 24, Friday, when the Sussexes arrived at P.S. 123’s Playground at Harlem. Megan was dressed up in maroon and the prince was warning blue shirt with light pants. The couple was really happy to see the welcome at the playground.
They spent their Friday at the Mahalia Jackson School and donated boxes of fresh vegetables and herbs to assist the school’s effort of providing fresh food to the community. Megan, 40, read her book for children, The Bench. Second grade children enjoyed the reading. She told “I wrote this when we just had our little boy, and I haven’t read it to any other kids but you.”
The couple also had a lunch at Melba’s restaurant in Harlem.
The Global Citizen Live concert was due on September 25, Saturday at 1 PM ET. They appeared at the stage of the annual music festival in central park. The purpose of their partnership is to promote the distribution of vaccine to everyone and everywhere. They encourage rich countries to share one billion doses to the countries who are in dire need of vaccine fighting with pandemic.
The twosome got up to the stage, hand in hand. Prince Harry questioned the crowd “are we prepared to do what is necessary to end this pandemic?” Megan added, “There is so much that we can do today, now that can get us closer to ending this pandemic and that’s why we’re all here.”
They said that the world is struggling with the virus and more with the misinformation, bureaucracy, and lack of transparency. This event was one of the seven coordinated concerts across the world.
