Any great nutrition and exercise program shall get the body to oxidize carbs and fats and thus burn calories during and after exercise. Pliagility developed a Fitness and Nutrition Program that motivates your body to oxidize carbs and fats and thus burn calories up to a day after exercising. A key component of the Pliagility Program is making your body into a lean, mean calorie burning machine with this Afterburn Effect.

Afterburn Effect Explained

The Afterburn Effect or Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) is, in short, the calories burned after the completion of exercise. Thus, an increase in EPOC leads to more calories burned without additional effort post-exercise. Of course, for everyone wanting to get lean – this should be a major goal of any fitness and nutrition program.

Our body’s demand for oxygen is measured via V02 testing which measures the volume of oxygen your body uses to convert energy from consumed food to adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is an energy source required to make your muscles work while exercising. This metabolic process in your body, in short, leads to the oxidization of carbohydrates and fats that create the energy required for the needs of our body to move.

How to Produce an Oxygen Debt

The Pliagility Program produces an Oxygen Debt. During the Pliagility Program your breathing shall be unable to provide your body with enough oxygen, thus, producing this Oxygen Debt. An Oxygen Debt is simply the gap between the amount of oxygen delivered and the amount of oxygen demanded by your muscles.

In order for your body to “Pay its Debt” your body needs to consume more oxygen post workout, thus, the Afterburn Effect/EPOC. Thus, you shall be burning calories and even fat after your workout.

The Pliagility Program, a science-based tech-enabled fitness program combines a perfect combination of exertion levels and training durations with cutting-edge modalities and structures to efficiently burn extra calories post-work. Most of our students burn calories from 12 to 20 hours post-work and many burn calories even more than one day after exercise. Yes, with the Pliagility Program you can even burn significant calories in your sleep.
