On May 1st, 2016 the legendary, multiple time Brazilian Jiu-jitsu champion Master Marcelo Garcia took time off from his New York BJJ academy to meet with BJJ Legend Master Ricardo Liborio in Orlando, Florida for a long awaited BJJ Seminar. The event was sponsored by the martial arts supplies superstore Century Martial Arts, and photographed by renowned combat sports photographer Rey Rey Rodriguez.
What started out as a small seminar turned into an event with over 170 BJJ practitioners, including 47 Black Belts, and several notable names within the MMA community. The event was such a success, that spectator access had to be canceled due to the large amount of participant ticket sales. Media coverage was not allowed, and since Marcelo Garcia rarely does seminars these days, this may have been a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet and learn from the universally recognized pound-for-pound greatest BJJ player on the planet.
Rey Rey Rodriguez stated, “I’m glad to have been given the honor of photographing the most powerful seminar in the world of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. To have both Master Marcelo Garcia and Master Ricardo Liborio in one room teaching, and demonstrating techniques on each other was any BJJ practitioners dream.”
