The Oscar competition already is heating up as many of the likely contenders have emerged following screenings at major autumn film festivals, including the Toronto and New York festivals.
Most of the year’s contenders have screened for critics, but a few promising contenders are still to be released before year’s end.
The awards season officially begins on December 9 with the publication of Golden Globes nominations-the first major film awards ceremony.
But in fact, it starts way sooner since it is at such festivals where the big contenders typically first screen: Venice, Telluride, Toronto, Cannes and Sundance.
