David O. Ayinde is an award-winning actor, writer, and consultant whose career has taken him across continents and creative mediums. With a background that spans theater, film, and even literary works, David is set to bring his expertise to the production of Love in Concert, a one-woman show by Makeda Tene, under Ovie Production Group. We had the pleasure of speaking with David about his career, his approach to consulting, and his vision for Love in Concert.
GVIBEZ: David, it’s a pleasure to meet you. You have such an interesting career path, having worked in both the UK and Nigeria. Could you tell us a bit about your journey and how these experiences have shaped your career?
David O. Ayinde: Thank you, it’s great to be here. My journey began in Stepney Mile End, East London, but my parents took me to Nigeria when I was young to immerse me in my heritage. Growing up there and later returning to the UK gave me a unique cultural perspective. I went on to study social sciences at the University of Westminster and trained in acting at Rose Bruford Theatre College. These experiences taught me the power of storytelling across different cultures, and that’s been the foundation of my career—whether I’m acting, consulting, or producing.
GVIBEZ: You’ve worked on some significant productions, including The Passion of Christ at Trafalgar Square and even in the James Bond franchise. How did these experiences prepare you for the work you’re doing now?
David O. Ayinde: Those experiences were invaluable. Working on The Passion of Christ was powerful; performing such a meaningful story in a public space like Trafalgar Square was humbling. The James Bond films, on the other hand, taught me discipline and the value of precision and teamwork in high-stakes settings. These projects strengthened my attention to detail and my ability to adapt, which are essential skills when working as a consultant on large productions like Love in Concert.
GVIBEZ: Speaking of Love in Concert, what drew you to this project, and what role will you be playing as a consultant?
David O. Ayinde: Love in Concert is a beautiful, deeply personal project by Makeda Tene. It’s a one-woman show that weaves storytelling with music, and it really spoke to me because of its emotional depth. As a consultant, I’ll be supporting the production from both a creative and technical standpoint. I’ll also be assisting with the promotional strategy to reach a broader audience. It’s exciting to help bring this vision to life, especially when it has the potential to resonate so strongly with audiences.
GVIBEZ: You also have experience in presenting and hosting, such as your work with the Screen Nation Entertainment Image Awards. How does that background influence your consulting approach?
David O. Ayinde: Hosting and presenting have given me a unique understanding of audience engagement. For example, at the Screen Nation Awards, I had the privilege of interviewing stars like Fleur East and Aml Ameen. Those experiences taught me the importance of making a connection with the audience, of creating moments that feel authentic. When I’m consulting, I always keep that in mind. I want every production I’m involved with to feel genuine and impactful, creating an emotional connection that resonates with viewers.
GVIBEZ: You’re also an author, with A Biblical Quiz Book Question and Answer. What inspired you to write this, and how does it fit into your creative journey?
David O. Ayinde: Writing A Biblical Quiz Book Question and Answer was a way for me to blend my love of storytelling with my faith. I wanted to create something educational and engaging, where readers could interact with the Bible in a fun way. It’s been well-received, with positive feedback on platforms like Amazon, and I’m grateful for that. The project is an extension of my desire to create meaningful content, and in a way, it complements my work in acting and consulting by adding another layer to my storytelling toolkit.
GVIBEZ: Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring creatives who want to build a versatile career in the arts?
David O. Ayinde: My advice would be to stay curious and open-minded. The industry is always changing, and versatility can be a huge asset. Take on different roles, don’t be afraid to try new things, and keep learning. Building strong relationships and being genuinely invested in every project are also key. And remember, each experience adds to your growth—embrace the journey, even if it doesn’t go as planned. Often, the unexpected turns lead to the most fulfilling paths.
GVIBEZ: Thank you, David. We’re looking forward to seeing your work with Love in Concert and beyond.
David O. Ayinde: Thank you! It’s been a pleasure, and I’m excited for what lies ahead with Love in Concert and other projects.
