My Name Is Tamsin

On January 5th, rising artist My Name Is Tamsin released her self-titled debut EP, My Name Is Tamsin, available on all platforms worldwide. The three-track project—“You’re a Phoenix,” “Knockout Babe,” and “Prince of Hearts”—introduces Tamsin as a fearless new voice blending modern alternative pop, rock, and poetic storytelling into music that is both emotionally resonant and deeply personal.

My Name Is Tamsin is a story-driven EP that weaves together fantasy and fiction with deeply real, lived emotions. Each song unfolds like a chapter, using imaginative worlds and characters to explore feelings of love, longing, resilience, and self-discovery. While the narratives may feel dreamlike, they are grounded in authentic experiences and emotional truths drawn from real life. The result is an EP that blurs the line between imagination and reality, inviting listeners into a cinematic, heartfelt journey.

Born in Oxford, England and raised in the United States from the age of five, Tamsin’s life has been shaped by an unwavering connection to music. From childhood, music served not only as a form of creative expression, but as a lifeline. My Name Is Tamsin is currently based in Boston, MA where she wrote and recorded her first body of work.

The writing process was catalyzed by a search for new music that brings true imagination to life. Channeling a unique melodic approach, all of the songs began as acappella compositions, later woven into production that highlights a vocal-driven, pop-forward sound. The result is an EP that feels youthful yet sophisticated, fresh while emotionally grounded.

Written over the course of 2025 in collaboration with Lit Honey Productions, the project developed organically through late-night writing sessions and an exploratory studio process. Each track evolved from raw voice memos and lyric sketches into fully realized songs, reflecting a year of creative discovery and a return to music.

The EP’s opening track, “You’re a Phoenix,” is an anthem of rebirth and resilience—about rising from the ashes of hardship, reclaiming personal power, and recognizing one’s ability to begin again. It reflects Tamsin’s journey through adversity and her emergence with renewed strength and purpose. My Name Is Tamsin shares:

“You’re a Phoenix is about that moment when you realize the fire didn’t destroy you—it forged you. You learn to stand again. To breathe again. To believe again.”

The second track, “Knockout Babe,” lives in the tension between the fantasy of becoming someone and the consequences of losing yourself along the way—an ode to the double-sided paradox of fame. The song begins in the raw, intimate setting of a garage band—broken amps, borrowed gear, and hooks that feel bigger than the room. The main character (Knockout Babe) isn’t chasing fame; she simply wants the music to matter.

As the story unfolds, she imagines what it would mean to become a pop star—the lights, the crowds, the moment the world finally listens. Then the narrative shifts. The garage turns into stadiums. Local shows become international headlines. Her name is no longer just her own. The world demands pieces of her image, her body, and her silence. She transforms into the Knockout Babe—perfect, powerful, and seemingly untouchable.

But every transformation comes at a cost. As the applause grows louder, so does the loneliness. Privacy fades, identity blurs, and she begins to realize that fame doesn’t just elevate—it can collide just as hard.

“Prince of Hearts” was written in a burst of inspiration, emerging in a single creative strike—five minutes, one sheet of paper, and a pen. Inspired in part by the Caraval series by Stephanie Garber, the track blends romantic fantasy with emotional tension and poetic symbolism. At its core, “Prince of Hearts” is a love song—but not a safe one. It explores the experience of loving someone who is both beautiful and dangerous, a person who moves through the world like a gamble. The figure at the center of the song feels untouchable, existing beyond even themselves.

The relationship within the song is imagined as a living deck of cards. No matter how many times the deck is shuffled, the outcome never truly changes. The listener is drawn into a cycle of hope, risk, and inevitability—continuing to play even when the odds refuse to shift. The “Prince of Hearts” becomes a symbol of charm, recklessness, and emotional elusiveness.

The song reflects a love that is deep yet impossible to hold. Every attempt to grasp it scatters like cards slipping from one’s hands, reminding the listener that not every love story is meant to be won. Instead, “Prince of Hearts” embraces the vulnerability of loving someone who cannot be kept.

Produced in collaboration with Lit Honey Productions and recorded at The Record Co. in Boston, My Name Is Tamsin marks the beginning of a new creative chapter. The project reflects a genre-blending sound influenced by modern pop aesthetics, rock, and poetry—free from limitation.

Today, My Name Is Tamsin stands as a singer-songwriter whose art reflects both struggle and triumph. Her music is not just a debut—it is a declaration of survival and imagination.
