Drew White Is Turning Heads with His Latest Album Concrete Americana

From the backroads of Birmingham to the heart of Nashville, Drew White is turning heads with his latest album. The 28-year-old singer-songwriter’s new album, Concrete Americana, cements his place as one of the most promising new voices in Americana and Alt-Rock. With a sound that blends southern storytelling, folk grit, and modern reflection, White’s latest work feels like the arrival of an artist who’s finally found his voice.

At the center of it all is the record’s title track, “Concrete Americana”, a song that captures both the motion and emotion of everyday life. Born out of long walks through Nashville’s streets, the single transforms ordinary moments into a cinematic journey. The result is a song that’s introspective yet expansive,  an anthem for wanderers, thinkers, and anyone searching for connection amid the noise of modern life.

White’s path to this point has been shaped by equal parts faith, fire, and persistence. Raised in Birmingham, Alabama, his earliest influences came from the Gospel traditions and Rock ’n Roll energy that defined his hometown. After years of honing his craft in garage bands and church groups, he studied songwriting at Furman University, supporting himself by playing college bars. A semester abroad in Scotland expanded his perspective, where busking along Edinburgh’s Royal Mile taught him how to engage listeners with raw honesty, a lesson that still fuels his live shows today.

When White moved to Nashville in 2021, it was supposed to be temporary. Working a corporate job by day, he spent nights writing and recording. But after releasing his debut album Headspace in 2023, which was named one of WhiskeyRiff’s Best Artist Debuts of the Year, there was no turning back. He’s since opened for rising stars like BabyJake, Tommy Prine, and Thunderstorm Artis, and even earned runner-up honors at the Unsigned Only Awards.

Still, Concrete Americana marks a turning point. Across its tracklist, White leans deeper into vulnerability and personal storytelling. Songs like “Medicine”, inspired by his lifelong battle with type 1 diabetes, and “Red Eye Lover”, a meditation on distance and heartbreak, reveal the layers of an artist unafraid to bare his truth. The album’s sound blends the texture of folk with the pulse of alternative rock, making it both introspective and alive.

What makes Drew White stand out isn’t just his voice or musicianship, but his ability to connect, to make the personal universal. Concrete Americana is more than an album title; it’s a philosophy. It’s about finding beauty in the ordinary, strength in the struggle, and community in the spaces between.

At just 28, Drew White is only getting started, but with Concrete Americana, he’s already built something solid enough to stand on.
