Questions
Q. What is your typical day, and how do you make it productive?
A. My typical day starts early with a review of ongoing projects and setting priorities. I dedicate specific time blocks for different tasks: design work, AR/VR ongoing projects, client meetings, and research. Staying updated with the latest tech trends is crucial, so I allocate time for reading industry news and experimenting with new tools.
Q. How do you bring ideas to life?
A. I’m a visual person so I always try to be inspired from my surroundings personal experiences and nature, I do some internet research. I start with some sketches and storyboards, then create quick 3D mockups. I involve clients early in the process for feedback. Together we develop functional prototypes and continuously refine them based on user testing. This iterative approach ensures our final products are both innovative and practical.
Q. What’s one trend that excites you?
A. The integration of AI with AR and VR in architecture and construction excites me. AI can analyze vast amounts of data to optimize building designs, while AR and VR can visualize these optimizations in real-time. This combination has the potential to revolutionize how we design, construct, and interact with buildings, making them more efficient, sustainable, and user-friendly. But, we are still in the early stages so most of my work is still based on traditional 3D.
Q. What is one habit that helps you be productive?
A. Morning mediation and exercise clears my mind and lets me talk with myself about anything so I go on a 4-6 mile jog around 5:30 AM. Then I have some coffee and get to be productive.
Q. What advice would you give your younger self?
A. Never stop learning, work as hard as you can with a goal in mind, no matter how many times you fail, never quit.
Q. Tell us something you believe that almost nobody agrees with you on.
A. Social media is one of the most harmful platforms humans have created, more so than traditional TV. I just don’t think we need to be constantly exposed to so much information.
Q. What is the one thing you repeatedly do and recommend everyone else do?
A. I try to spend more time with my family than tech even though my daily work demands a lot of interaction with tech (yes, even social media). But, I make an effort to tell myself before I go online , “There is nothing good for you on here now”.
Q. When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?
A. When feeling overwhelmed, I step away from the screens, go in on a walk, meditate, enjoy some nature, or listen to some classical music.
Q. What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business or advance in your career? Please explain how.
A. Active learning, reading, networking, interacting with people in person and perseverance have gotten me far.
Q. What is one failure in your career, how did you overcome it, and what lessons did you take away from it?
A. Early in my career, I underestimated the importance of human relationships which I now know are the basis of everything that’s important to me. I am lucky that I now recognize how many valuable people, most importantly my wife, I’m surrounded by and that if I’m struggling, I can reach out to them for help or just someone to talk to.
Q. What is one business idea you’re willing to give away to our readers?
A. An on-demand service that combines streaming platforms for a single monthly fee.
Q. What is one piece of software that helps you be productive? How do you use it?
A. You might not believe me, but my “software” is really “hardware”- a pen and paper. Every night before I go to sleep, I write down my 10 most important tasks for the next day. If I can accomplish all of them, next day I put them in first place and repeat the process.
Q. What is the best $100 you recently spent? What and why? (personal or professional)
A. I recently took my family out for a scenic walk. We bought some street food, talked and just enjoyed each other’s company outdoors.
Q. Do you have a favorite book or podcast (or both) from which you’ve gotten much value, and why?
A. The book “Unlimited Power” by Tony Robbins has been an incredible influence on me. It reshaped the way I think. I frequently listen to podcasts by people like Joe Dispensa and Grant Cardone. They’re easy to take in and prove me with so much value.
Q. What’s a movie or series you recently enjoyed and why?
A. I recently enjoyed the Netflix series “Limitless”. Each episode focuses on a different challenges the protagonist faces. I love how he confronts his fears. The show gives me a great perspective about mental limits and how to face them.
