Sponsored by Amplify Teens, Innoscribe, and Sun Academics, the Innovative Expressions Competition is an annual art competition that celebrates the creative work and diverse perspectives of teens around the world. The competition offers a unique opportunity for students aged 12-18 to showcase their work and earn recognition through awards and publication.

Hundreds of students from twelve countries submitted original pieces of art and writing demonstrating their unique visions and artistry. Submissions were accepted in a variety of categories; the top three entries in each category were recognized. Students who chose to submit portfolios of at least eight pieces were considered for the Best Artist awards.

The prestigious Best Artist awards were chosen based on the overall quality of the artists’ portfolios. Evaluation criteria included originality and message.

The three students recognized as Best Artists were June Hee Kim of Yong San International School, Joshua Yechan Lee of Pascack Hills High School, and Sharon Eunji Lee of Tigard Senior High School.

According to the judging panel, June Hee Kim’s work reflected remarkably strong understanding of form and technique for a young artist. Her expressions of nature and various forms of life were noted as particularly striking.

Joshua Lee’s illustrations presented a unique commentary on both the diversity and qualities common to all teenagers. The judges appreciated his attention to detail and original perspective.

Sharon Lee was lauded for her vibrant characters and the playful and dreamlike aura of fantasy that her pieces evoke.
